While she just wanted to return a relic from her childhood to its rightful owner, Assistant Professor in Art Foundations Amanda Parker-Wolery found herself in center of a media frenzy two weeks ago. After a Labor Day trip to visit her father during which she rediscovered the mystery briefcase, a friend shared the story with a reporter with the Enquirer. After there, it got picked up by the local news, and pretty soon someone from World News with Diane Sawyer was calling.Long story short - Amanda was able to return the briefcase to its rightful owner, who plans to use the contents to find out more about her father and her lineage.
Andy Warhol said everyone gets their 15 minutes ... We think Amanda deserves more, not just for this act of kindness, but for the dedication and generosity of spirit she shows her students and co-workers everyday, which was clearly demonstrated in this story.
